Ms. Garr oversees GCG’s Notice & Media Team, which comprises six individuals who specialize in class member notice execution, advertising and media planning, and social media. Collectively, GCG’s Notice & Media Team has more than 60 years of advertising and media experience and has developed and/or executed more than 1,000 notice plans, including some of the most successful, complex, and high-profile notice campaigns in class action history.
GCG’s Notice & Media Team combines proven media industry expertise and operations experience with class member communications and management to provide thorough, tailored, and efficient notice programs while utilizing the most current methods and technology for locating and reaching class members. Our Notice Team consults with clients early in the process on the design and execution of an impactful program, and remains engaged as an active partner to our operations experts throughout the lifecycle of the administration to measure success, and modify the plan should new developments arise.
Ms. Garr has experienced first-hand the evolution of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (Rule 23), particularly rules regarding notice, while handling hundreds of class action administrations. She has overseen some of GCG’s largest notice programs, including the $6.15 billion Worldcom Securities Settlement, for which GCG disseminated notice materials to nearly four million people on three separate occasions. She was also responsible for notice dissemination and claimant communication for the Gulf Coast Claims Facility for which GCG designed and placed posters in 10,000 locations, and designed and placed media inserts in 276 regional newspapers as well as 16 million banner ad impressions in local newspaper, television, and radio websites. For the combined $2.4 billion Nortel Networks Corp. Securities litigations, she facilitated the execution of a notice program involving mailed notice to over 2.4 million class members in the United States, Canada and around the globe. Some of the other large and wide-reaching programs she and GCG’s Notice & Media Team have handled include IPO Securities (25 million notices), Global Crossing Securities (3.8 million notices), Lucent Technologies Inc. Securities (3.5 million notices), GM Brake Litigation (2.8 million notices), and Dollar General (1 million notices).
In recent years Ms. Garr had the opportunity to lead GCG’s Midwest Call and Processing Center in Dublin, Ohio, where she managed the claimant communication, Call Center help line, crisis center and notice mailing teams. She then moved on to manage GCG’s Hammond, Louisiana, Operations Facility during the Deepwater Horizon Economic Settlement where, among other responsibilities, she directed the program’s claimant response and notice mailing operations, for which GCG mailed more than 1 million personalized notices, and more than 330,000 email notices to potential class members and their counsel.
In addition to leading GCG’s Notice Team, Ms. Garr is responsible for executing GCG’s diversity and inclusion vision by creating and launching company-wide programs and initiatives that strategize to improve innovation, performance, and business growth. She is a long-standing member of the National Association of Securities and Commercial Law Attorneys (NASCAT), the American Management Association (AMA), The International Women’s Leadership Association, DiversityInc, and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She is also a former board member of MFY Legal Services. Ms. Garr has been featured in articles and interviews for The National Law Journal, Inspirational Woman Magazine, a CNN article, StreetInsider.com, prweb, Wn.com, Noodls, as well as in Black Enterprise magazine’s “On the Move” column, and Crawford & Company’s Currents “Associate Spotlight” column.
